As we move towards a net-zero future, we will be dramatically increasing our electricity consumption - to power electric cars, buildings and industrial operations. Current projections show that we will need to double the capacity of the North American power grid by 2050. Réseau Canada Grid is focused on research, education and advocacy to support our transition to a clean, integrated energy future. As a new organization, they needed a visual identity that would immediately position them as industry leaders when reaching out to partners, sponsors and decision makers.
Our logo design is a simple visual representation of a Canadian electrical grid system. Parts of the visual identity drew inspiration from early city simulation video games. Energy infrastructure policy can be very technical and we wanted the identity to be engaging for a broad audience.
The first Grid + Days event brought together leaders from across North America for three days of virtual panels and presentations exploring the future of our power grid. Building on our Canada Grid brand, we developed a look and feel to apply to communications material in the lead-up to the event.
We’re excited to continue working on initiatives focused on clean energy. It’s a growing industry with lots of potential for positive impact - and we like the challenge of trying to communicate complex infrastructure projects or policy frameworks in a simple visual way.
