With over 34,000 pageviews over the course of our Spinnie campaign, we gave the people of Ottawa a chance to brag about their city.
In 2017 Canada turns 150, and Ottawa will be the location for a national birthday bash. In the lead-up to these celebrations, Ottawa 2017 wanted to get the people of the nation’s capital excited about their city’s chance to throw a party for the entire country.
We built a sleek, low-bandwidth website that allowed users to upload short videos in their favourite Ottawa locations and automatically enter an exciting contest we formatted in collaboration with the Ottawa 2017 team. Visitors to the Spinnie site were able to vote for their favourite video, with the Spinnie with the most votes winning special prizes. We gave the campaign a distinct brand inspired by the Ottawa 2017 logo, and managed outreach to contest participants and celebrity spinners alike.
Projects: Spinnie Website and Contest, Marketing Spinnie
Deliverable: Website supporting user generated content, Brand, Public Campaign
Creative Counsel: Leveraging local celebrities to influence and encourage Spinnie turnout
The Jackpine team led this campaign by producing a brand, designing and developing a dynamic website for uploading, storing, sharing and filming, and voting on videos with Ottawa celebrities such as Mayor Jim Watson and Ottawa Redblacks quarterback Henry Burris. We enhanced user engagement even further by choosing prizes that fit thematically with the video contest. We love Ottawa, and the Spinnie campaign gave our team, and the people of Ottawa, an opportunity to boast about our city.
